Why Seasonal Flowers Are Always in Style

There’s something deeply satisfying about living in tune with the seasons, and at Carisbrooke Flower Farm, that’s exactly what I do. From the first signs of spring to the rich colours of autumn, the fields reflect what’s naturally growing at any given time. I don’t import flowers or rely on artificial growing methods. Instead, I let nature lead the way.

Right now, the farm is brimming with cheerful tulips, delicate ranunculus, and beautifully scented narcissus – all grown organically, without chemicals or pesticides, and with sustainability at the heart of everything I do.

So, why choose seasonal flowers?

1. They’re Fresher and Last Longer

Flowers that are grown locally and picked just before delivery haven’t spent days or even weeks in cold storage or transit. That means they arrive with you fresher, brighter, and with a much longer vase life. You’ll enjoy them for weeks as they bloom naturally in your home.

2. They’re Kinder to the Planet

The majority of supermarket flowers are flown in from as far away as Kenya, Colombia or the Netherlands. This means a significant carbon footprint from air freight and refrigerated transport. By choosing flowers that are grown just down the road, you're cutting out all of that CO2. It’s a small change that makes a big difference.

3. They Look and Feel More Natural

Seasonal flowers often have a wild, romantic feel, perfect for rustic weddings, relaxed arrangements, or just bringing a bit of the outdoors in. Because the flowers change with the seasons, your bouquets will always feel fresh and in tune with the time of year, from early spring posies to late summer showstoppers.

4. You Support Local, Independent Growers

By buying from a flower farm like mine, you’re supporting an independent, Island-based business that puts the environment first. Every bouquet or bucket you buy helps me invest in the soil, wildlife, and people that make up our little corner of the world.

Whether you're planning your wedding flowers, brightening up your home, or buying a gift for someone special, choosing seasonal is a beautiful, ethical way to celebrate what’s growing – right here, right now.
